Wix SEO Report Card — We Audited wix.com and the Score Surprised Us

We ran our free website audit tool on wix.com. The Wix SEO audit reveals page speed issues, content structure gaps, and design flaws — and what any Wix website audit means for millions of Wix-built sites.

Wix powers over 200 million websites worldwide. It's the go-to website builder for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and creatives who want a professional site without hiring a developer. Drag, drop, publish — that's the promise.

But how does the company behind Wix — wix.com itself — perform when you run a proper Wix SEO audit?

We pointed our free website audit tool at wix.com and ran the full gauntlet: page scanning, signal detection, content depth analysis, and a deep multi-category audit. Here's the Wix website score you won't find in Wix's own marketing materials.

The Wix Website Score: Quick Preview

CategoryScoreGrade
Design/UI100/100A+
Conversion89/100A
Technical97/100A
Depth (9 Signals)30/100F
Wave 2 Depth84/100B
Overall Preview Score79.94/100C

A Wix website score of 79.94 puts them above the industry average of 57/100. The site loads fast (253ms), the design is polished, and the technical foundation is solid. So far, so good.

The Deep Audit: Where Wix Falls Short

The preview score is the warm-up. Our tool's deep audit — the same engine that powers our paid implementation audits — tells a different story:

Deep Audit CategoryScore
Visual & UX62/100
Conversion & Flow46/100
Technical SEO65/100
Content Quality84/100
Competitor Intelligence50/100
Domain & SEO Value35/100

Deep Audit Composite: 57/100 (F)

For a company that sells website creation tools, this is a significant finding.

The Biggest Problem: No Lead Capture

Our Wix SEO audit found that wix.com has zero HTML forms on the homepage. Not one. No contact form, no quote request, no newsletter signup — nothing.

For a business that generates leads through its website, having no form is like a retail store with the door locked. Our Wave 1 signal analysis scored wix.com at just 30/100 on the 9 critical conversion signals:

  • Form Presence: ❌ (0 forms detected)
  • Phone Number: ❌ Not visible
  • Schema Markup: ⚠️ Weak
  • H1 Relevance: ⚠️ Marginal
  • Trust Signals: ⚠️ Present but vague

Missing Page Types

Our crawl found 0 out of 8 common page types on wix.com. No About page. No Contact page. No Services page. No Blog. No Testimonials. No Pricing. No FAQ.

Wait — doesn't Wix have a blog? They do, but it wasn't detected in the same-domain crawl, which suggests it lives on a subdomain (blog.wix.com) rather than a subdirectory (wix.com/blog). For SEO purposes, subdomain content passes much less authority to the main domain.

Core Web Vitals and Accessibility

Like most large sites, wix.com scored poorly on Core Web Vitals (50/100). Their accessibility check also scored 50/100. Two critical fixes were flagged: lead capture and Lighthouse accessibility compliance.

The Wix SEO Audit Fix Roadmap

PriorityIssuesEst. Hours
Critical2 (Lead capture, Accessibility)~12h
High5 (Form, Phone, Booking widgets)~17h
Medium12~35.5h
Low19~13h

Estimated implementation cost: $4,500–$9,500. The higher price tag reflects the conversion system rebuild needed.

What This Means for Your Wix Website

The irony is thick: Wix.com itself doesn't follow the best practices that Wix users are told to follow. If you have a Wix website, here's what this audit reveals:

  1. Add a lead capture form — this is the single highest-impact fix
  2. Put your blog on a subdirectory (yoursite.com/blog), not a subdomain
  3. Add structured schema markup — Wix themes often omit it
  4. Include a phone number prominently above the fold
  5. Fix page experience — optimize images, reduce render-blocking resources

A proper Wix SEO audit isn't about whether Wix is a good platform (it is). It's about whether your specific site is configured to convert visitors into leads and customers.

Tools We Recommend

We use these tools ourselves when building and auditing service-business websites. Some of the links below are affiliate links. If you purchase through them, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We only recommend tools we use and believe in. Per FTC guidelines, you should assume any link to a third-party product or service is an affiliate link.

Semrush

Semrush is the industry standard for SEO research, keyword tracking, and competitor analysis. For service business owners, it answers critical questions: What are your competitors ranking for? Which keywords actually drive local traffic? How does your site compare to the top 3 search results in your area?

Why we recommend it: If your free audit identifies SEO gaps — missing schema, thin content, low keyword coverage — Semrush is the tool that tells you exactly which fixes move the needle and which keywords to target first.

Pricing: Plans start at ~$139/month.

WP Engine

Most service business websites run on WordPress. WP Engine provides managed WordPress hosting with built-in speed optimization, automatic updates, and security monitoring. For any company whose site goes down during peak season, the cost of downtime far exceeds the cost of managed hosting.

Why we recommend it: Site speed directly affects both Google rankings and mobile conversion rates. WP Engine's managed platform handles the technical side so you don't need a developer to keep your site fast and secure.

Pricing: Plans start at ~$20/month.

Webflow

If your website needs a complete rebuild, Webflow is a visual website builder that lets you design and launch a professional, responsive site without coding. It includes built-in SEO controls, schema markup support, and mobile-responsive design by default.

Why we recommend it: For business owners who want design control without hiring a developer, Webflow bridges the gap. You can build a conversion-optimized site with proper schema, mobile forms, and seasonal landing pages — all visually.

Pricing: Plans start at ~$14/month.
